We’re finally seeing the first flowers here in Maine—forsythia, daffodils, hyacinths—even the first few little wild violets are springing up. The mosses and lichens seem softer and more vibrantly green every day. I’m soaking up all the fresh energy to help myself get organized. I’ve got my market schedule pretty much worked out for the rest of the year, have some gallery events set up, and have gathered a few intriguing deadlines for open calls I’d like to participate in.

I’m also making new work, having spent most of the month of March (and as much as I could spare of April) on a large-format multiblock linocut I hope to be able to share in its final form soon. (You can follow along with the process, as always, over on my Instagram account, @hiwaterpress.) A couple of other new things are taking shape in my sketchbook, and there’s the usual jumble of collage materials out on the table for those rare open moments between freelance assignments when I can fit in a more spontaneous session.

More about all of this later in the month, but since Mother’s Day is coming up, I’ve got an order of small gold and silver metal frames on the way, to offer alongside these hand-printed keepsake cards. I’ll let you know when those arrive—should be any day now. These and others are available through the Hi Water Press shop over at Bloof Books, and locally at Makers’ Market Shop & Studio.
